WEG and WCF Calculator

The Wage Enhancement Grant (WEG) and Workforce Compensation Funding (WCF) are built into your CWELCC benchmark allocation - you do not receive them as separate payments. But calculating who qualifies and for how much requires multiple steps per staff member.

WEG provides up to $2 per hour for eligible program staff and supervisors with a base wage below the $33.81 per hour ceiling. Staff earning $31.81 or below receive the full $2. Staff between $31.82 and $33.80 receive a partial amount to bring their wage to the ceiling.

WCF applies to RECE-designated staff only. For RECE program staff, WCF provides increases up to the $28 per hour ceiling with a wage floor of $25.86 per hour. For RECE supervisors, the ceiling is $31 per hour with a floor of $26.86. Staff must receive WEG before WCF is calculated - the WCF uses the WEG-adjusted wage as its starting point.

WEG applies to program staff in positions counted towards adult-child ratios under the Child Care and Early Years Act, and RECE supervisors serving children under six years of age at a CWELCC-eligible centre. Non-program staff are generally not eligible unless at least 25 per cent of their time supports ratio requirements.

Staff must receive a T4 from the employer to qualify. The base wage for WEG purposes includes any employer-paid wage increases from January 1 to December 31, 2025, and the 2024 General Operating Fund hourly wage enhancement.

WCF applies to RECE-designated program staff and supervisors serving children under six years of age at a CWELCC-eligible centre. Staff must qualify for WEG before WCF is applied - WCF uses the WEG-adjusted wage as the starting point for determining eligibility and the amount of the increase.

The 2026 WCF wage floors are $25.86 per hour for RECE program staff and $26.86 per hour for RECE supervisors, including base wage, GOF, WEG, and WCF increases combined.
